CHANGING THE IMAGE OF SLUMS

Reality Gives was established to provide quality education to children regardless of their background.

As we currently mainly operate in Dharavi, we have experienced first-hand the negative attitudes that many people have towards children and the youth from the slums. The common stereotype - often reinforced by media and popular culture - of idle, passive and often criminal slum-dwellers is something we strive to change.

Reality Gives is funded by our sister organization- Reality Tours & Travel- an ethical travel company, which focuses on showing the positive sides of the slums to visitors despite their obvious poverty.

Dharavi is home to various prosperous industries, such as recycling, pottery, food making and textiles. It also has a rich, historical artisan culture and boasts a wide array of produce for exports.

Most people in Dharavi, be they young or old, work and study hard in order to better themselves.
