OUR PARTNERS

Reality Gives is a registered charity in India (and soon to be in the UK). The organization's operations are mainly funded by the revenues of Reality Tours and Travel, an ethical tours company, which operates in Mumbai. We are also partnering with other organisations:

Reality Tours & Travel provides a wide range of tours to different type of audiences from backpackers to tourists and from film crews to reporters.

While some of the tours are for sightseeing or exploring parts of Mumbai or rural areas surrounding the city, the focus is on Dharavi- the biggest slum in India. Reality Tours and Travel aims to break down the negative image of the area by including visits to the artisan compounds, industrial and housing estates and also educational institutes.

The Dharavi tours showcase Reality Gives’ kindergarten and Community Centre as part of the tour.

Educo is a registered Irish and Indian charity and partners with Reality Gives in running the kindergarten and expanding our educational programme. EDUCO is run by volunteers to raise funds to educate impoverished children. Its objective is to educate children out of poverty. The partnership began in July 2009.

For organisational support, Reality Gives partners with ATMA Mumbai, an NGO focusing on consultation and strategy building for other non-profits. ATMA also provides and handles all volunteering needs for Reality Gives. You can find more information on volunteering on our volunteering section or on ATMA's website. The partnership began in April 2009.

Another partner of ours is Muktangan, a well-established non-governmental organisation in Mumbai. Muktangan strives to provide affordable community-based, high-quality, inclusive and child-centered education.

It addresses the learning needs of underprivileged children and concurrently empowers women from the same communities by providing career opportunities through training to teach in these schools.

Reality Gives follows the Muktangan learning model in its kindergarten.

The acclaimed Muktangan model focuses on the quality of the education, and allows the child to be creative and make choices for themselves, teaching them to think independently. The method has many similarities to the Montessori, Piaget and Steiner models, but also stresses the importance of the family and community in the development of the child. The partnership began in January 2009.
