We strive toward a world where underprivileged communities have equal access to opportunities and resources by providing young people from underprivileged communities in India with high quality education and experiences to help them maximize their potential.

What we do

DonateReality Gives runs educational programs such as the Local School Support Program and the Youth Empowerment Program.
GiftReality Gives raises funds for our programs.
ExchangeReality Gives shares resources with other NGOs such as staff and curricula.
Volunteer Reality Gives raises awareness about issues in Dharavi and highlights the work that we are doing to tackle them.
ExchangeReality Gives connects socially minded individuals and organizations to the work that we and our partners do.

Why we do it

We believe that where you start in life should not determine where you finish. By providing quality educational programs and experiences to the children and youth of the communities we work in, we aim to equip them with the tools they need to achieve their potential and to break free from the cycle of poverty.

Through our unique relationship with our sister organisation Reality Tours and Travel, we are uniquely placed as an NGO to access resources. Every day we are able to connect with socially minded individuals coming through Dharavi, who, upon completion of a tour are often inspired to create change for our communities.

Who we support

Dharavi and communities visited by Reality Tours and Travel

Reality Tours and Travel started its operations in Dharavi in January 2006. Since then, most of the work of the Reality Group has been for the benefit of the Dharavi community. However, as Reality Tours and Travel expands its tours Delhi and multi-day tours of Kerala and Rajasthan we are also expanding our projects to local communities in these areas.

Other communities

Many projects we support can easily be expanded to other areas of Mumbai, and India, which Reality Tours does not visit on its tours, but where similar communities face similar problems.

We seek to grow beyond our own physical boundaries by open sourcing our expertly designed curricula with other NGOs running similar programs.

Programs we run and programs we support

Our Programs

In 2007 when we asked people in Dharavi what support we could provide, they said English classes. Since then, we have concentrated on education, such as the Youth Empowerment Program and the Local School Support Program. There is a focus on quality and a belief that just because somebody is from an underprivileged area, it doesn't mean that they don't deserve a high standard of education.

Our Key Achievements So Far

Our successes come from the collaborative efforts of many dedicated people and organisations. Here are some of them:

1Livelihood: Educated 400 students between 16 and 30 by providing training in English, computer and soft skills.
2Education: Trained 15 local women who teach almost 400 students in English using child-centered and interactive teaching methods.
3Health & Wellbeing: Engaged with 130 children through a variety of sports programs
